Setting up Your Lock-Net E-mail

 
E-Mail
Create/edit email accounts in Outlook Express 4
  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Go to Tools ==> Accounts ==> Mail tab
  3. Internet Accounts /// Click on the "Add" button ==> select "Mail"
  4. Your Name /// Type in the name of the person using the email address, click Next
  5. Internet E-mail Address /// Type in your Lock-Net e-mail address click Next
  6. E-mail Server Names /// Type in mail.lock-net.com for the POP3 (incoming mail) and SMTP (outgoing mail) servers, click Next
  7. Internet Mail Logon /// Type in the email username and password, click Next
  8. Friendly Name /// Delete the account name that is offered, type in the email address for this account. Click Next
  9. Choose Connection Type /// Choose the 3rd option ("I will establish my Internet connection manually"), click Next
  10. Congratulations /// Click Finish. Lock-Net requires SMTP Authentication so double-click the email account (or highlight it and click the "Properties" button on the right) and proceed to the next step. Otherwise skip directly to step #13.
  11. "Servers" tab /// Click on the "Servers" tab and put a check in the last box at the very bottom of the window ("My server requires authentication"). Press the "OK" button.
  12. Outgoing Mail Server /// Choose the 2nd option ("Log on using") and fill in the SMTP username and password. Press OK at the next 2 windows.
  13. Internet Accounts /// Click on the "Close" button

Create/edit email accounts in Outlook Express 5 and 6
  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Go to Tools ==> Accounts ==> Mail tab
  3. Internet Accounts /// Click on the "Add" button ==> select "Mail"
  4. Your Name /// Type in the name of the person using the email address, click Next
  5. Internet E-mail Address /// Type in your Lock-Net e-mail address click Next
  6. E-mail Server Names /// Type in mail.lock-net.com for the POP3 (incoming mail) and SMTP (outgoing mail) servers, click Next
  7. Internet Mail Logon /// Type in the email username and password, click Next
  8. Congratulations /// Click Finish. Lock-Net requires SMTP Authentication so double-click the email account (or highlight it and click the "Properties" button on the right) and proceed to the next step. Otherwise skip directly to step #11.
  9. "Servers" tab /// Click on the "Servers" tab and put a check in the last box at the very bottom of the window ("My server requires authentication"). Press the "OK" button.
  10. Outgoing Mail Server /// Choose the 2nd option ("Log on using") and fill in the SMTP username and password. Press OK at the next 2 windows.
  11. Internet Accounts /// Click on the "Close" button

Create/edit email accounts in Outlook 97 or 98
NOTE: Outlook 97 DOES NOT normally support SMTP Authentication! This functionality can be added by installing the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch, available for download from Microsoft's website. Lock-Net requires SMTP Authentication so if you CANNOT install the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch, you will need to either upgrade to Outlook 2000 or use a different email client that will support SMTP Authentication.
  1. Open Microsoft Outlook
  2. Go to Tools ==> Services
  3. Services
    • If "Internet Mail" is an installed service, simply double-click it and proceed to the next step.
    • If "Internet Mail" is not in the box, it will need to be added. To do this, click the "Add" button and double-click "Internet Mail". Double-click the installed "Internet Mail" service and proceed to the next step.
  4. "General" tab /// Fill in the following information on the named fields:
    • Full name /// Type in the name of the person using the email address
    • E-mail address /// Type in you Lock-Net e-mail address
    • Internet Mail Server /// Type the incoming mail (POP3) server name which is mail.lock-net.com
    • Account name /// Type in the incoming mail (POP3) username (Your full e-mail address)
    • Password /// Type in your email password

    Go to the "Connection" tab

  5. "Connection" tab /// Choose the 1st option ("Connect using the network"). Press OK at the next 2 windows.

Create/edit email accounts in Outlook 2000
  1. Open Microsoft Outlook
  2. Go to Tools ==> Accounts ==> Mail tab
  3. Internet Accounts /// Click on the "Add" button ==> select "Mail"
  4. Your Name /// Type in the name of the person using the email address, click Next
  5. Internet E-mail Address /// Type in your Lock-Net e-mail address click Next
  6. E-mail Server Names /// Type in mail.lock-net.com for the POP3 (incoming mail) and SMTP (outgoing mail) servers, click Next
  7. Internet Mail Logon /// Type in the email username and password, click Next
  8. Choose the 3rd option ("Connect using my phone line"), click Next
  9. Congratulations /// Click Finish. Lock-Net requires SMTP Authentication so double-click the email account (or highlight it and click the "Properties" button on the right) and proceed to the next step.
  10. "Servers" tab /// Click on the "Servers" tab and put a check in the last box at the very bottom of the window ("My server requires authentication"). Press the "OK" button.
  11. Internet Accounts /// Click on the "Close" button

Create/edit email accounts in Outlook XP & 2003
  1. Open Microsoft Outlook
  2. Go to Tools ==> E-mail Accounts
  3. Choose "View/Change an Existing Account", click Next
  4. Double-click the email account listed in the "Name" column
  5. Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) /// Fill in the following information on the named fields:
    • Your Name /// Type in the name of the person using the email address
    • E-mail Address /// Type in the email address
    • User Name /// Type in the incoming mail (POP3) username
    • Password /// Type in the email password
    • Incoming mail server (POP3) /// Type the incoming mail (POP3) server name: mail.lock-net.com
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP) /// Type the outgoing mail (SMTP) server name: mail.lock-net.com
  6. Click on the "More Settings..." button ==> "Connection" tab
  7. "Connection" tab /// Choose the 3rd option ("Connect using Internet Explorer's or a 3rd party dialer"). Lock-Net requires SMTP Authentication so click on the "Outgoing Server" tab and proceed to the next step.
  8. "Outgoing Server" tab /// Put a check in the box ("My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication").
  9. Click the "OK" button, then the "Next" button, and click "Finish"

Edit email settings in Netscape v4.5-v4.8
  1. Open Netscape
  2. Go to Edit ==> Preferences
  3. Preferences /// Expand the "Mail & Newsgroups" category (if it's not already expanded), click on "Identity".
  4. Identity /// Fill in the following information on the named fields:
    • Your name /// Type in the name of the person using the email address
    • Email address /// Type in the email address

    Click on "Mail Servers"

  5. Mail Servers /// Double-click the name of the incoming mail (POP3) server, or highlight it and click on "Edit"
  6. Mail Server Properties /// Fill in the following information on the named fields:
    • Server Name /// Type the incoming mail (POP3) server name: mail.lock-net.com
    • User Name /// Type in the incoming mail (POP3) username

    The optimal configuration would be to check all 3 boxes and specify an interval of 1 minute, but these settings are for the customer's personal preference. Press OK

  7. Mail Servers /// Fill in the following information on the named fields:
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP) server /// Type the outgoing mail (SMTP) server name: mail.lock-net.com
    • Outgoing mail server user name /// Type in the outgoing mail (SMTP) username. (Same as POP3 username)
  8. Click the "OK" button

Create/edit email accounts in Netscape v6-v7
  1. Open Netscape, then go to the Mail component by going to Tasks ==> Mail, or simply pressing "CTRL+2" on the keyboard
  2. Go to Edit ==> Mail/News Account Settings ==> "New Account" button
  3. New Account Setup /// Choose the 1st option ("ISP or email provider"), click Next
  4. Identity /// Fill in the following information on the named fields:
    • Your Name /// Type in the name of the person using the email address
    • Email Address /// Type in the email address

    Click the "Next" button

  5. Server Information /// Make sure that the "Server Type" is "POP Mail Server". Type in the POP3 (incoming mail) server name (mail.lock-net.com) click Next
  6. User Name /// Type in the incoming mail (POP3) username, click Next
  7. Account Name /// The default name for the configuration will be the email address that was setup. Accept this by clicking Next
  8. Congratulations! /// Click Finish, then click on "Outgoing (SMTP) Server" in the white box on the left.
  9. SMTP Server /// Verify that the correct SMTP server name (mail.lock-net.com) has been entered on the "Server Name" field. Check the box "Always use name and password" and enter the correct outgoing server (SMTP) username on the "User Name" field.
  10. Click the "OK" button

Edit email settings in Eudora v5-v6
  1. Open Eudora
  2. Go to Tools ==> Options
  3. Getting Started /// Fill in the following information on the named fields:
    • Real name /// Type in the name of the person using the email address
    • Return address /// Type in the email address
    • Mail Server (Incoming) /// Type the incoming mail (POP3) server name or IP address
    • Login Name /// Type in the incoming mail (POP3) username
    • SMTP Server (Outgoing) /// Type the outgoing mail (SMTP) server name or IP address

    If the ISP requires SMTP Authentication, check the box at the bottom of the window ("Allow authentication").

  4. Click the "OK" button
